For many, Summer is a break from our regular routines. Whether it’s a break from the school schedule or activities, summer brings a slower pace and more free time. Summer means longer evenings, impromptu plans, and vacations. While it’s refreshing to have a change of pace, it’s tempting to allow our free time to turn into passivity or even apathy. Without realizing it, we slow down on our regular Bible study or take a weekend off from church.
It’s also a season that can open the door for growth in our relationship with God. With fewer demands on our calendar, we have an opportunity to step into deeper time with God. Summer doesn’t have to be spiritually stagnant; it can be intentional and transformative.
We need to be reminded of Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Summer could be the perfect time to try something new. A new habit, a new book or class, a new way to serve. With a little more margin, summer could become not just a break, but a chance to grow, to connect, and to step into something new.
